After an almost two-year absence due to Covid-19 pandemic, the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) recently organised the 13th edition of Malaysia Public Relations Award (MPRA) 2021 as a hybrid event for the first time.
The PR industry which is traditionally dominated by multinational and non-Bumiputera companies, saw bzBee as the sole contending Bumiputera company making a mark in the industry.
BzBee Consult Sdn Bhd (BzBee) hauled a total four awards, two of which are gold awards for Crisis or Issues Management – Private Lease Scheme: An Alternative in Housing Development? Boon or Bane? and Public Affairs – Cendana: Reaching Out to Pandemic Impacted Arts and Culture to Heal The Nation.
BzBee also received Silver Award for Best “Pandemic Pivot” or “Covid-19 Communications” Campaign – Positioning Sarawak: ‘Ke Sana Ke Sini’ Adapting to Covid-19 and Bronze Award for Best Adapt Agency: The Spirit of “Ukhwah Fillah” A Community Approach to Adapt to Issues.
Prof Mohd Said Bani CM Din, founder and managing director of BzBee Consult said, “Over the years, the MPRA has gained recognition from more organisations, both in the private and public sectors.
“This is clearly reflected in the overwhelming support we received from sponsors, especially Iskandar Investment Berhad, AgroBank and Telum Media as the platinum, gold and bronze sponsors respectively.
“I truly hope they will continue to be ‘advocates’ for the profession and the industry as a whole, in years to come. It is also my hope that more Bumiputera and local companies will be able to make a mark in this industry.”
The MPRA 2021 was also graced by the presence of Director General of Health Malaysia, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah where he was presented the PRCA Malaysia Leadership Award which recognises and honours exemplary and pro-active roles in Covid-19 communications.
This year’s MPRA saw high quality submissions by top leading public relations agencies in Malaysia. Despite the stiff competition from other agencies, bzBee’s submission attracted the attention of the experienced panel of judges.
The MPRA 2021 was held with strict adherence to SOP’s, with the main event attended by only 40 guests from PRCA exco members, guest of honour and sponsors. More than 100 PR practitioners also participated in the event virtually, celebrating from their respective venues.
